Tabitha

Species: Boa Constrictor

Length: 3.1m (10ft 2")

Girth: 50cm

Weight: 21kg

Available for: Live events, slink about & photography

Tabitha is the most seasoned animal in the team. At 8 years old with only about 2 feet or so still to grow, she truly is a gentle giant. A rescue snake, Tabby’s original owner gave her up after not having enough time to care for her properly. When she isn’t attending live events or relaxing at home she frequently partakes in educational school visits, sitting on the laps of children as young as 4 years old!

Misha

Species: Boa Constrictor

Length: 2.9m (9.6 feet)

Girth: 50cm

Weight: 7.5kg

Available for: Live events, slink about & photography

Misha is a very inquisitive fellow, which makes him a very active and striking display animal. Carpet pythons often have a bed reputation but Misha is as friendly as they come! He is a rescue snake who’s original owner emigrated and was unable to take him along. Misha shares an enclosure with Tabitha and they are great friends

Talulah

Species: Boa Constrictor

Length: 2.1m (7ft 8"feet)

Girth: 25cm

Weight: 5.5 kg

Available for: Live events, slink about & photography

Talulah is a young snake who is just under half grown and has a quiet personality. She is what is known as a ‘pastel morph’, having been bred for paler more creamy colours than normal boas, and a granite instead of red or mahogany coloured tail. Talulah is a rescue snake whose previous owner lost interest in her.

Chainsaw

Species: Carpet Python

Length: 2.2m (7ft 6")

Girth: 20cm

Weight: 4kg

Available for: Live events, slink about and photography

Chainsaw is a rescue who arrived with Talulah, joining the team about a year ago. At 2½ years old he is just over half grown. He is a very handsome tree snake, who is inquisitive and very active with a cheeky personality.

Ripper

Species: California king snake

Length: 1.1m (3’4”)

Girth: 11cm

Available for: Live events, slink about & photography

Ripper is another rescue, re-homed many times due to a supposed aggressive nature. Though nervous at first, he has blossomed into a lovely snake that is steady, reliable and easy to handle. His albino lilac and yellow colouration and longitudinal stripe pattern make him stand out from the crowd and being a smaller snake is typically used as “cover” during live events if the larger animals need a rest period.

Wotan

Species: Bullsnake

Length: 5ft 6"

Girth: 9cm

Available: Photography shoots only

Wotan is a real character! He is albino, or “golden” in colour, which is a rarity among his typically feisty and vocal species. The baby of the group, Wotan has only taken part in small, low key events as part of his training so at this time is available only for photography work or by special request. He is growing rapidly and in the next few years will attain a length of around 8 feet!

Inca & Gaius

Species: Burmese python

Length: 3ft

Available for: Live event, slink-about (cover) and photography shoots.

Inca & Gaius are the newest and youngest members of the team but are set to be the stars of the show! At present their small size makes them suitable for live event cover work and lower key events, but being “burms” they will be fast growers and are expected to reach lengths of 6-9 feet by Christmas 2009, and in time, up to 18 feet! Both are stunningly marked in broken Aztec patterns. Inca is visually very bright due to albinism that gives the yellow colour and pink eyes, whereas Gaius is a “granite burm” with more subtle colourings in coffee and hazel shades. Both snakes are very personable, relaxed and reliable, Gaius being the more inquisitive and cheeky of the two.

Tyler

Species: Boa constrictor

Length:8ft

Weight: 8kg

Available for: Live event, slink-about (cover) and photography shoots.

Tyla joined us this summer as a rescue, and though not handled for several months in her previous home, she quickly developed with us and demonstrated herself to be friendly, inquisitive and laid back, and earlier than predicted, participated in her first live event- a wedding- where she was a hit, and seemed to rather enjoy herself too! There is definitely something special about this snake, and her dark mahogany markings and freckles make her a very distinctive boa.

Garters & ribbon snakes

Species: Chequered garter (albino), San Francisco garter, Red-sided ribbon.

Length: 45-50cm

Available for: Photography shoots only

Whisky, Scrumpy and Morgan though tiny in size, have masses of attitude and personality! They are cheeky and inquisitive and each one has different colour and markings. Due to their small size and frisky nature, they are available only for photography work, though when they are fully grown (75-100cm) will be available as “cover” for the large snakes during live events.

PLEASE NOTE!

Lengths and weights are approximate and as measured in October 2009. Snakes grow constantly throughout their lives. Youngsters grow faster than older snakes so be aware that your chosen animal may have grown a little by the time it arrives at your event!

Snakes must shed their skin periodically to allow for growth and repair. Prior to shedding their eyes become clouded and their bodies very fragile as the old skin becomes raised slightly and the new one forms beneath. At this time they are susceptible to bruising if over-handled and their personality sometimes become more nervous due to this fragile state and also their impaired vision. For these reasons we do not work snakes when they are in this stage of their pre-shed condition and therefore regret a snake that has been booked may not be available on the day if it comes into pre-shed at the last minute. We endeavour to replace the snake with the next closest size and marked animal possible under these rare circumstances.
