Director Of Global Communications

About this job

Director Of Global Communications

The Organization

Now entering its second decade, Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP)’s global activities are developed and managed in the headquarters in Brussels.  NP has a fundraising office in Minneapolis, USA, programmes in Sri Lanka, South Sudan and the Philippines, and has plans to start a programme in the South Caucasus region.

The Position

This new position, reporting to the Executive Director, has been created to meet NP’s growing need to develop key messages and an international portfolio of media contacts, as well as social media.  This is an exciting opportunity to develop a global communications strategy for the organization, as it develops increased capacity to respond to invitations and requests for its unique expertise from stakeholders in a number of countries.

Key responsibilities are described in the job profile.  The ideal candidate will have had experience working on communications issues in the field, and must be a self-starter.  Previous experience of working in conflict areas and a demonstrated interest in international peace and conflict issues will be an advantage, as will practical knowledge of fundraising, especially multilateral and bilateral donors

The position may require some travel to NP programme and field offices.  All employees are expected to have an understanding of and commitment to the organization’s mission and objectives and, for this position, strong written and verbal communication skills in English (the official working language).

The Application Process

Please send your CV/resume, along with a cover letter in English (quoting reference101/2011) highlighting your experience and qualifications against the requirements of the position and compensation expectations, to:  Recruitment@nonviolentpeaceforce.org

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications must be received by 5 September 2011 (1700 UTC)
